Moycullen Sports Award

Moycullen basketball club are delighted and honoured to announce that they have been selected as the overall Club of the Year across all sports by the Galway Sports Stars of the Year Awards for 2015.

The award will be presented to the club at a black-tie gala event on this coming, Saturday 23rd January, at the Galway Bay Hotel.

It’s a fantastic way to start off the clubs 50th year anniversary, the award has been given to Moycullen Basketball Club in recognition of the outstanding success they had at National Level last year when the club had unprecedented success:

U20 Men’s National Cup Champions

U17 Boys Billy Kelly Champions

U16 Boys Community Games Champions

U14 Boys All-Ireland Club Champions

U18 Girls National Shield Runner-up

U18 Boys National Cup 3rd place

Multiple players on Irish squads & teams:

Dylan Cunningham, Ronan O’Sullivan & Patrick Lyons on the Hibernia squad which saw European basketball return to Ireland foe the first time in 20 years. The 3 players where the first Moycullen players to play club basketball in Europe as the Hibernia representative team played in the EuroCup in November & December 2015. Dylan & Ronan were also members of the Hibernia squad during preparations for the Sino-European Championshps in the Summer
