SuperLeague Game 5 Preview

After last weeks enthralling contest in the 1st Round, 1st Leg tie against Belfast Star when we came away with a 1 point victory, we have the pleasure in welcoming the same opponents back to the Kingfisher for this weekends league game.

As has often been the case over the last few year last Saturday’s game went right down to the buzzer Poster Match 29October16.pngwith Phillip scoring the final two FT’s with 11 seconds left to put us up by 1. Star had a decent look with 4 seconds left to once again snatch the lead but good defence resulted in a miss and we had a half decent look at the buzzer to stretch the lead out to 4 but it was off.

Hopefully that miss won’t prove costly as the Cup is based on aggregate score over the two legs. The return leg is in Belfast on Saturday night, November 19th in the Methody College.

This weekend it’s back to league action as we play Star once again in the Kingfisher at 7pm on Saturday 29th October. SSE Airtricity Moycullen will be looking to build on last weekend’s win and get their league campaign back on track.

If the lads can keep the defensive intensity going for longer periods (the 2nd quarter last week saw some of the best defence the team has played where the constantly frustrated their Northern opponents and gave them no decent looks at the basket) and knock down the shots that the offence is giving them, they will hopefully come out on top in what is sure to be another cracker. The game is part of a big weekend for the club and hopefully there’ll be another big crowd in to support the team.

Our U12 Boys team who put on a great display at half time last weekend

After a great display last week from our U12 Boys, it’s the turn of two of our girls teams to showcase their talents during one of our Superleague games. This weekend our U12 girls & U10 girls teams play at half-time.

The team & the club would like to thank Belfast Star who facilitated us by swapping the league & 2nd leg Cup games so that we could have a home game in Galway during our 50th Anniversary Celebrations.
