Moycullen Basketball Club are celebrating 50 years this year & to mark the occasion we’re holding a number of events over the October Bank Holiday Weekend.
It’s a fantastic achievement for our club that we’re in existence for 50 years; from our beginnings in 1966 and the village Street League, the Christmas Blitz, Galway League Division 2 all the way to Superleague, All-Ireland titles & International players it has been a fantastic 50 years and great credit is due to all those who have been involved in the club in any way over the last 50 years.
For a village to field a basketball team in local leagues is a great achievement & takes a lot of work. For our club and parish to field teams from U9 Boys & Girls all the way to Senior Men & Women is phenomenal and we should all be very proud of what we have done and continue to do. Hopefully the next 50 years will be just as exciting and rewarding as the last 50.
Some highlights of the weekend include:
Under 16 International Boys Tournament
The U16 Boys tournament should be a great weekend of basketball with top teams from Europe, the Irish U16 team & our own U16 Boys. Hopefully our SuperLeague team will be playing that weekend at home as well so a feast of basketball on Saturday and Sunday
Book Launch in the Forge
Make sure to drop in to the book launch in the Forge on Sunday evening which is a visual and written history of the Club. Some remarkable photos & memories and a must have for anyone not only associated with the club but who has any attachment to Moycullen
