Hopes are high in the club this week with 3 Moycullen teams heading to the Mardyke in Cork for the Basketball Ireland National Cup Semi Finals on Sat and Sunday 10th and 11th of Jan. Moycullen Under 18 boys take on Fr Matthews of Cork on Saturday morning at 10am and the Under 20 Men face Neptune at 4pm that afternoon.
It will be an all Galway affair on Sunday at 1pm when SSE Airtricity Moycullen meet local rivals JM&L Titans in the Presidents Cup semi final. It promises to be a fantastic weekend of basketball, with teams featuring from all over the country. However, Moycullen coaches Nollaig Cunningham and Salva Camps will be focused on guiding their teams one step closer to a coveted place on finals day in the National Basketball Arena.
Galway women’s team NUIG Mystics also have a semi-final against Portlaoise Panthers at 11.00 on Sunday morning in the Parochial Hall. A number of Moycullen players are involved with this team. Leah Cunningham will be part of the squad for the weekend, while Catherine Connaire, Ailbhe Davoran and Aine McDonagh are cup-tied.
If you are travelling to Cork, the Moycullen teams and supporters will be based at The Montenotte Hotel for the weekend.
