A number of Moycullen players helped NUI Galway win the Men’s Freshers Tournament in Carlow over the weekend. The players involved were Sean Candon, Stephen O’Brien, Evan Costello and Ronan O’Sullivan while Rory Gilson who is still recovering from illness was assistant coach. The team beat DCU and Dundalk IT in their group games before way to the semi-final where they met UCC. In the final they beat last season’s champions UCD (46-39). Top scorers for NUI Galway were Ronan O’Sullivan and Stephen O’Brien with Ronan being awarded the MVP for the final. Congrats to the whole NUI Galway team and coach Ken Hansbury on a job well done. The Moycullen lads should be back on the roster for the next SSE Renewables Moycullen fixture at home to DCU St Vincents on Saturday 14th at 6.30 in the new Jes hall.
