St. Stephen’s Day in Maigh Cuilinn is not just a date on the calendar—it’s a celebration of sport and community.

2024 did not disappoint as we had a Blitz day for the ages with spectacularly mild weather, huge crowds and some great basketball.

Congratulations to the Men’s winning team comprising James Loughnane, James Cummins, Conor Egan, Eoin O’Reilly, Conor Curran, Michael Dowd and Darren O’Donnell. It was a special win for James Loughnane who won his fifth blitz, for Darren O’Donnell who was named the Dandy Kelly Spirit of the Blitz award winner and for Michael Dowd who finally exited the Hall of Shame with his first win after a couple of decades of trying.

On the Women’s side of the ledger, Aine McDonagh led her blitz winning team comprising Karley Tierney, Deborah Ryan, Niamh Lyons, Fainse Silke, Rebecca Sullivan, and Ruth O’Sullivan . Ellen Power was named “Player of the Blitz”.
