More exciting news; another new American, Daniel

Moycullen Basketball Club are delighted to announce the signing of Daniel Vila for the upcoming 2019/2020 SuperLeague season.

Daniel comes to use from the Sport Changes Life Foundation which brings US players over to Ireland to further their education generally through a Master while also playing sport, he will be attending NUIG. Hailing from Berwyn, Pennsylvania, Daniel comes to us from John Hopkins University who play in the Centennial Conference in DIII.

Last year he was co-captain of the team while averaging 8 points and 4.5 rebounds while playing 28 minutes a game and is tied for 3rd all time in John Hopkins history for blocks. He was also the inaugural recipient of the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Year award in 2017-18, which was the same year he helped lead the team to the conference championship.

Daniel plays the 4 spot shooting 51% from 2-point range and 73% from the free throw line, but can also slot over to the 5 if needed. Hopefully with his athleticism, he represented the school in the long jump and hair he can put on a show for the Moycullen faithful this year.

We’re really excited to welcome Daniel to the team and we’re sure he’s going to fit right in with the lads and the club.

The new season is fast approaching with our first home game on Saturday 21st Septemer as we host Maree to kick off what will helpfully be another cracking year of top class basketball.
