Moycullen in the Jr. NBA

In the NBA right now the Golden State Warriors and Toronto Raptors are battling it out in the finals, with the Raptors winning the finals in game 6 on Thursday night. Next September Moycullen will have two NBA teams of its own as it enters the junior NBA programme in association with Basketball Ireland.

Moycullen will be one of 15 clubs across the country who will take part in the 2019 jr. NBA league. Moycullen will link up with all four National Schools in the Parish, Scoil Naomh Cholmain, Scoil Bhaile Nua, Scoil Naomh Bride and Scoil Mhuire and the club will provide coaching, blitzes and an exciting game day experience at our own men’s Superleague games.

The club is looking forward to forging strong links with the schools and we hope to introduce the game to children who may not have played before. The club will then have a representative at the jr. NBA festival in the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght in December.

Last year there were over 2000 children who played basketball with over half never having played before. Shortly there will be a draft where two NBA teams are assigned to the club, and while we’ve had numerous St. Stephens Day Blitz drafts, we’re looking forward to our first experience with an NBA draft.
