Our U12 Boys traveled to Cork last Saturday morning to take part in the U12 Cork County Board tournament. Due to some late schedule changes, the lads found themselves in a group with Blue Demons and Limerick Lions.
Slow out of the blocks in the first game the team never really settled against Demons and when they looked like they might make inroads into the lead some silly turnovers really hurt us when we had started to settle down. Try as they may we ultimately went down to the Cork team. Next up was Lions who had already beaten Demons.
Another slow start and the signs were ominous for the lads. Lions raced into a early lead and were looking like they would run away with the game. However a super last three quarters . Some excellent team defense had Limerick struggling at times on offense and this lead to some fast break opportunities for the lads which they converted. An excellent game of basketball which went score for score to the end which saw Limerick come away with the win.
Those last three quarters were excellent from the boys point of view and they finished the tournament on a positive note. While the trip was shorter than the team had hoped for; loads learnt and plenty to work on. Hard luck lads and keep up the hard work.
Many thanks to all the parents who traveled down and also to the team who all came into the SuperLeague game that evening against C&S Neptune.
