SuperLeague back home on Saturday

It’s been so long since we played at home that it nearly feels like it’s a while new season but it’s great to be back home at long last this Saturday when we welcome Killorglin to the Kingfisher for the very first time in the SuperLeague.

When we played Killorglin back in October it was their first home game in the SuperLeague and while we were after beating Maree in the first game of the season, Killorglin were coming off a local derby win against Tralee in their first ever game in the top flight and that momentum and the hugely vocal home crowd helped them take the win by 15 points.

While the Kerrymen got the win in the end, the lead was down to only 4 points a number of times in the 3rd & 4th quarters and the lads will feel that we certainly got reverse the result from that game. However, credit most also go to Killorglin who dug deep and made the crucial scores when needed and have since proven themselves to be an excellent outfit in their maiden SuperLeague season.

We have faced a brutal schedule since we last played Swords Thunder at home in the league on Monday 29th October. A run of 9 away games in a row during the months of November, December and the first half of January is by far the toughest schedule any team has faced in the league. While the lads didn’t get a win in those fixtures they were certainly in with a great shout in a number of the games and if lady luck had shined a little brighter on us 2 or 3 more wins could easily have been achieved.

While it’s great to be back home the team are fully aware that they’ll need to dig deep to get the desired result on Saturday and they have prepared for this game and the upcoming games with a great attitude and intensity. We’ll be looking for another big and very vocal home crowd in to the Kingfisher on Saturday evening; our supporters have always proven to be a massive help and we’ll be looking for them once again to give the team that extra push to see us over the line.

As it’s a home game the Nuark 3 Point Challenge is back; one shot for €50 at the 1st\2nd quarter interval. So far we’ve had winners; Steven Heaney & Marc Beatty, will we get another one this weekend? Be in early to get your entry ticket!!!

And we’ll also have another fantastic McCambridge’s Hamper as top prize in our raffle.
Many thanks to Nuark & McCambridge’s of Galway for their continued support of the Superleague team and the club!!!!

Tip-off is 7:30pm on Saturday; don’t miss what promises to be a superb game.
