Aine McDonagh & Catherine Connaire played for Ireland U18 Ladies in Bucharest over the past 12 days. Ireland received no favour with the group draw, being paired with Latvia, England, Bulgaria & Bosnia & Herzgovina. Aine started in all four games playing in the post and was in great form before spraining her ankle, missing all the remaining games with Catherine playing in all seven games. Both girls made significant contributions to the team and their experience last year in Tallinn proved to be a great advantage.

The blistering 36 degree heat made life very difficult for all of the team and rotation was very important. Aine & Catherine averaged 19 & 15 minutes a game.
Ireland won two of the final three games beating Albania & Cyprus easily but going down in a thriller against Iceland by 6. The team felt that this & the game vs Bulgaria were very winnable – and though they conceded both, the performance against Iceland was probably their most competitive of the two weeks.
