Moycullen boys U14 go to Cork this weekend with their sights set firmly on the grand prize. The team has been very competitive all season and have already won the county league & cup double along with the Cork County Board & Emmett Neville tournaments. The lads are in a tough group and will take nothing for granted against St Mary’s Castleisland, Liffey Celtics, Ballincollig & Letterkenny – all of whom have the potential to be champions. The squad has great strength 1 through 15 and that has served them well this season when players were missing.
Our U16 girls also play this weekend in Galway and are confident in putting in good performances in a very competitive age group – where Maree are probably the favourites.
Moycullen u16 boys go into this weekend’s AICC as winners of Galway, however this title will count for little as they have been drawn against tough opposition in St. Marys Castleisland, KUBS, Blue Demons and pre-tournament favourites Sligo All Stars. The lads will be somewhat familiar with Blue Demons and Sligo having competed against them in Cork County board tournaments, but ccoming up short and both occasions. Castleisland are traditionally a strong outfit and Moycullen teams have had some great battles with KUBS at various age levels over the last number of years.
Moycullen will be hoping their aggressive defence and open style offense, that has been effective in Galway, will transfer well to the national stage.
A top two place group finish the target for the lads, with the chance to compete in an All-Ireland semi-final the reward.
