Moycullen U14 boys recorded their 7th win of the campaign last night against a tall Maree side in Maree hall on a 60 -38 scoreline. The game was more competitive than the score suggests as the Maree side trailed by only 6 points at halftime. This was essentially a victory for teamwork as all the boys made great contributions to the cause ā even more impressive as both Paul Kelly & Tommy McNeela were unavailable for selection. Mareeās gameplan revolved entirely around their 6ā 2ā centre Daniel Armiro who towered over his markers which resulted in 80% of Maree scores coming from inside the paint. Moycullen displayed much greater flair in amassing their score ā with their shooting from inside & beyond the arc, driving for layups, free throw shooting – all of a high quality. The third quarter proved decisive as the lads knocked in four consecutive three pointers to open up a 23 point lead ā from where they never look back. Iarlaith OāSullivan, James Cummins & James Connaire took the scoring plaudits combining for 50 points while Gerard Davoren & Mairtin OāConghaile excelled at the defensive end. Titans are next up on February 27th followed by a trip to Cork for the Emmet Neville tournament.
