Update on first SuperLeague game

As we are all aware the COVID-19 pandemic has affected everyone over the course of the last eight months.

We have seen a dramatic increase in the numbers nationally over the last number of weeks and Moycullen like all other areas has been affected. This week a number of players from our SuperLeague team have been deemed close contacts of people that have tested positive with the virus. These players are currently either awaiting tests or having had the test are awaiting results and are self-isolating.

Having informed Basketball Ireland immediately of the situation and been in close contact with our governing body over the course of the last few days it has been deemed necessary to cancel our first game agains Maree which was due to take place this coming Saturday, 17th October.

Obviously we are extremley dissapointed that this is the case but we as a club and Basketball Ireland were left with no other choice given the seriousness of the situation. At all times the health of our players, the community, the basketball family and the wider public is at the forefront of our minds.

The team and the players are currently following all protocols and guidelines as set down by the NPHET & the HSE.
