U20 Men’s National Cup Final Preview

All roads lead to the National Basketball Arena tomorrow, Saturday 25th as our U20 Men look to claim the U20 National Cup when they face UCD Marian at 11:30am in Tallaght.

Looking to emulate their club mates who won the U20 National Cup in 2008 & again in 2015, the team are under no illusions as they face a quality UCD Marian team. It’s actually repeat of the final of 2008 and fingers crossed that the result will be the same as on that day we won our first ever U20 National Cup.

The team in 2015 overcame Belfast Star, some photos from that game can be found here

Led by the SuperLeague quartet of Dara Kenna, James Lyons, James Connaire & Paul Kelly the team won’t be short of big game experience. Padraig Lenihan, Kevyn Burke, Tommy McNeela, James Cummins, Matthew Donnellan, Gerard Davoren, William Owyenson & Cormac Croke bring real strength and depth to the squad.

With Fiachra Mulkerrins, Paul Culkeen, James Duggan, Martin O’Conghnaile, Iarlaith O’Sulliva, Daniel Arimoro, James Wall & Neil Kelly also featuring on the squad, hopefully the lads will have enough to see them over the line in what promises to be a cracking game against a superb UCD Marian outfit.

Gerald Lyons commented that “the team are really looking forward to the game. UCD Marian are obviously a massive challenge for us and they have a good mix of size and outside shooting”. Continuing he said “Hopefully we can build on the performance in the semi-final but will need to put 4 good quarters together to have a chance of winning”.

If you can’t make it to Dublin tomorrow the game will be streamed live on YouTube; link is here

We’ll also be keeping you up to date on our Twitter feed; so keep an eye on the Twitter machine as well.

Everyone in the club wishes Gerald and all the team the very best of luck tomorrow!!!! Hon the Parish……
