SuperLeague Preview: UCC Demons

This coming Saturday 13th October, our Super League team welcome UCC Demons to the Kingfisher for our second home game of the season. On the back of a tough loss down in Kerry last weekend, the team will be looking to bounce back this weekend.

With the same record 1 win & 1 loss after 2 games, the Cork outfit will be looking to bounce back from their defeat last Friday evening against Tralee Warriors.

The 2 games last year resulted in the away teams taking the spoils, our win down in Cork was very impressive when we ran out to an early lead and took the victory on a scoreline of 117-94; our team high score for last season. However we weren’t able to repeat that performance in the return fixture when we welcomed Demons to Galway on Saturday 3rd of February. On that occasion a strong 2nd half performance from the visitors saw them take the win 72-85.

A much changed Demons team arrives on Saturday, gone are Adrian O’Sullivan, Lehmon Colbert, Darco Bucan & Jack O’Mahony replaced by Brandon Watts, Girts Lazdans, Carlton Cuff & David Lehane.

We have a very special presentation at half time when we honour four of our local Special Olympic athletes, Eadaoin O’Connor, Maeve Walsh, Roisin Walsh & David McAnena, who represented us so well in the recent Special Olympics Ireland games.

Last home game we had our U9 boys playing at half-time, this weekend it’s the turn of our U9 girls; please be loud in your support of our youngest club members.

Our games against Demons have historically been exciting free-flowing affairs and no doubt this weekend will be no different. Tip-off is 7:30pm with doors at 7pm.
