Galway
League U'12 Boys

December 5th 2009 A mixed week for the Moycullen U12 boys. On Tuesday, they lost to Barna
by 8 in a low scoring encounter in St Marys but bounced back at the weekend
with a free scoring victory over Clare Cascaders. The Barna defeat saw
the team struggle to put the ball in the basket when under even the minimum
of pressure and they also failed to match Barna's general desire for the
ball. However, when they got their strongest combination together in the
last quarter, they narrowed the gap and showed signs of being able to
run a reasonably balanced offense. The improvement shown in the fourth
quarter on Tuesday was carried through to Saturday as the team gave a
much improved performance, admittedly against weaker opposition. They
dominated the game from the start and scored many fine lay-ups and jump
shots. The teamwork was much improved as they passed the ball ahead at
the right times and generally found the open man when available. Once
again though, they got out-hustled on the boards and for loose balls and
applying their skills at game pace is the challenge for the team in the
coming weeks. Improvement can only come through playing games and, fortunately,
there will be further opportunities upcoming with the Cork County Board
tournament on Dec 19th. |
