December 5th 2009 The U12 girls team were in league action again on Sat 5th Dec in Killanin
against Clare Cascaders, hoping to build on their hard fought victory
against Corrib three weeks ago. Both teams opened very competitively in
the first quarter, but as time wore on Moycullen began to dominate play
with very strong defence and fast breaks, ending the quarter with 5 points
to Cascaders 3 points, with 2 baskets from Aine mc Donagh and one from
Catherine Connaire. In the second quarter, Moycullen hit a purple patch
scoring five more baskets to Cascaders two and were totally on top at
this stage, with Ailbhe Davoren bagging two and Megan O Donnell getting
three. This quarter finished spectacularly, with Moycullen breaking out
following strong defensive pressure and 5 seconds to go on the clock.
Megan O Donnell got possession and racing down the court let fly from
well outside the three point line. The ball dropped into the basket just
as the hooter blew leaving the half time score 15 : 7. Moycullen continued
to pile on the pressure in the following 2 quarters showing good teamwork
and utilising all the space on the court in offence, though Cascaders
fought bravely right up to the end, the final score 26:12. Our next outing
is an eagerly awaited clash with old rivals Maree next Saturday 12th Dec
at 2.00pm in Killanin. . |
